QuestAway FAQ

Short answers to what players ask most

v1.0.0

Short answers, each with a link to the page that has the details. Every number comes from the game client 1.0.0; what the game server decides is marked as such.

The game

What is QuestAway?

An idle RPG by ART X GAMES that runs in a small window beside your taskbar. It came out on Steam on 23 October 2026. A party of heroes fights through stages and casts its skills on its own, while you choose its classes, gear, skills and upgrades; the beginner guide walks through it.

Heroes and party

How many classes are there, and how do you unlock them?

There are 10: 6 bought with gold (Warrior, Mage, Healer, Archer, Assassin, and Engineer, 500 gold each) and 4 with Crystals (Barbarian, Monk, Witch, and Paladin, 800 each). These are the client's default prices, and the server can change them. The wiki does not rank classes: Classes compares their roles, weapons, armor and skills.

How big is a party?

Up to 4 heroes, one per class. A party starts with one hero, and the 3 Runes of Command in the Codex each open one more place: they need a party hero at levels 5, 30, and 46 and cost 300, 47,069, and 165,430 gold. See party size.

What is the level cap?

Level 100. Heroes level on XP from monster kills, and every hero in the party earns the full XP of each kill as long as the stage is close to its level. Levels also give skill and passive points; see Leveling and XP.

How is fight power worked out?

Fight power is the number in the title of a hero's Status window. The game works it out from a test fight of the hero alone against a boss just above its level (its damage, its area damage and how long it lasts), plus what it adds to each partner; party power is the mean of the heroes'. The Party Builder computes both the same way, checked against the game's results.

Maps, Codex and pets

What are Veil, Breach, and Abyss?

The game's 3 maps, in rising difficulty. Each runs through the same 10 biomes as acts of 10 stages, and beating the last act opens the next map; stage levels run Veil 1–33, Breach 34–67, and Abyss 67–100. Every act-boss fight needs a riftstone of that map. See Maps and stages.

What is the Codex?

Your account's rune tree: 355 runes, each bought once with gold, that work for the whole account. They add gold, XP and drops, party and skill-bar slots, bag and stash space, chest automation and stats for every hero; the first runes need a party hero at level 3. See Codex.

How do pets work?

Each of the 15 pets gives the whole party a permanent bonus once it is unlocked, and the bonuses of all your pets add up. 11 are hunted: they unlock after 10,000–300,000 kills in one biome. The other 4 cost 400 Crystals each; see Pets.

Crystals

What are Crystals, and how do you get them?

The premium currency. They come in 5 packs of 550–15,000 crystals, sold as Steam items: Steam sets the price, and the game client holds none. Arena season rewards and crystal sales on the market also give Crystals, and your Crystals are kept on the game's server, not in your save.

What does the Crystal Shop sell?

In crystals: the 4 crystal classes at 800 each, 4 pets at 400 each, stash tabs from 300 and hero skins at 550–1,750, plus balloon skins and house furniture. These are the client's default prices: the server sends the live prices, stock, discounts and item of the day, so the shop in game can differ. See Crystal Shop.

Saves and builds

Where is my save file?

In %APPDATA%\com.artxgames.questaway, as save.json. Close the game first so the file has your latest progress, then drop it on My save to see your heroes, gear, Codex and map progress; the file is read in your browser and never uploaded.

Did version 1.0 reset progress?

For closed-beta players, yes. The released game does not load beta saves: it renames the old one to save.beta-arquivado.json, clears the local online data and starts a new game. The first time it runs on a beta account, it also clears that account's QuestAway achievements on Steam. See version 1.0.0; My save still reads the archived file.

Can I share a build?

Yes. The Party Builder keeps the whole build in the page address, so Copy link shares it, and My save can open your own party there. To publish it for others to vote on, sign in with Google or Discord and press Publish: it appears in Community builds, checked against the game's rules.
